About

After obtaining my B.Sc at King's College, University of London, I continued there in research until late 1976. My interest was the Photoconductivity of group 3-5 seminconductors, such as Indium Phosphide & Gallium Arsenide in the vacuum infrared. Following on from this I worked in the City for a leading accountancy firm before deciding to do a P.G.C.E. in Mathematics and Physical Science at the University of London Institute of Education. My first post in school was yeaching Mathematics and later Physics and indeed both Mathematics and Physics. At the same time, I also set up Abacus Tutors to provide tuition in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. I have taught post-P.G.C.E. in 7 schools and held a number of different posts leading to me being both a Head of Department and the Examination Secretary in charge of all the the school examinations - a post I held for over 10 years. Whilst teaching and tutoring I also found time to study part-time for both an M.A. in Education at the University of London Institute of Education and an Advanced Certificate in Educational Management at The University of Leicester. With the teaching and tutoring experience gained over this time together with my accounting knowledge, I decided to expand my business interests. When Abacus Tutors of Wokingham was launched, new tutors were found so expanding both the number of subjects available and widening the age range of vthe students we tutor.
