Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my profile. If you’re here because you’re curious about how QHSE and risk management can genuinely support performance, culture, and trust rather than just tick boxes, then we’re already on the same page. I’ve spent over a decade working across defence, utilities, waste, engineering, manufacturing, construction, & logistics industries, helping organisations make QHSE Assurance & Risk Management work for them, & operating as a strategic enabler that helps organisations to protect their people, strengthen governance, and grow sustainably. I also apply my deep domain expertise to shape the next generation of workplace safety through artificial intelligence at micro1, a unique intersection of HSE leadership & emerging technology. I use this platform to share practical insights, support professionals in the field, & contribute constructively. I tend to scroll past the noise, but if something is useful, relevant, or thought-provoking, I’m all in. My home is Risk Management. It’s where I fit and where I’ve built my career. I’ve led integrated QHSE, Risk, and ESG frameworks aligned to ISO 9001 / AS9100, 14001, 45001, 45003, 26000, & 31000, and I’ve worked closely with boards & senior leaders to ensure safety culture drives performance not the other way around. Along the way, I have: • As a former Council Member of the IIRSM, supported, and continue to support the risk and safety profession as a Fellow of the premier Risk & Safety Management Institute. • Led the transition of a family-run utilities business into a corporate, audit-ready, ISO and ESG-aligned operation, that is Veolia. • Delivered governance frameworks that improved performance metrics by more than 25% in a year • Helped safeguard around 100 field engineers across some 200 UK sites delivering critical water & wastewater services • Served twice as a Judge for the UK Security & Safety Awards My leadership style is straightforward: be visible, listen carefully, act with integrity, and hold myself to the same standards I expect of others. My military background taught me discipline and clarity under pressure; my academic journey (NEBOSH MSc with Distinction & a First-Class BSc in Logistics Management with a focus in Health & Safety Management) reinforced the value of critical thinking and continuous learning. If you’re looking for someone who understands both the boardroom and the frontline, and knows when to speak and when to listen, I’d be glad to connect. All the best, Jonathan.
I have joined the expert network at micro1 as a Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist Consultant. In this role, I am applying my deep domain expertise to shape the next generation of workplace safety through artificial intelligence. I am contributing to cutting-edge AI training projects, where I serve as the subject matter expert ensuring that intelligent systems are built on a foundation of accurate, context-rich, and regulation-aware safety knowledge. This unique intersection of HSE leadership and emerging technology allows me to influence safety at a systemic level translating complex regulatory frameworks, hazard controls, and best practices into structured intelligence for AI models. It’s a fascinating opportunity to impact the future of how safety is learned, implemented, and managed across industries. Strategic Contributions: · Acting as the primary HSE subject matter expert (SME) for AI training initiatives, validating content against global standards (ISO 45001, OSHA, etc.). · Curating and auditing safety knowledge to ensure AI training data reflects the highest levels of accuracy, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices. · Bridging technical and operational safety leadership by collaborating with AI developers and project managers to optimise data quality and model reliability. · Advancing safety intelligence by identifying gaps, refining scenarios, and structuring complex HSE concepts for machine learning applications. · Continuously integrating emerging HSE trends and regulatory shifts to future-proof training datasets and model outputs. This role strengthens my ability to drive safety innovation, think systematically, and leverage technology for risk management, all critical competencies for modern Executive HSE leadership.
