This prevents that a single person has access to customer funds, since the private key is split up (Shamir's Secret Sharing). The user remains in full control due to full transparency made possible through On-Chain transactions - any movement of customer funds can be tracked & traced. LOCK's security system is set up in such way that it can't move any user funds without the cryptographic signature of the user's wallet. LOCK developed its own cold wallet set up for customer funds, built up redundantly in different locations in physically protected rooms that has security features such as alarms, tamper and intrusion protection. As a result, customer funds are stored completely offline, except of a deposit or withdrawal event.
