Postdoctoral Researcher at KU Leuven. Polish culture, performing arts, film and politics.
Between November 2019 and October 2023 I have conducted research into the complex interactions between Polish national identity, the Polish Romantic literary tradition and contemporary Polish theatre. This resulted in a PhD thesis titled "Dissenting Bodies. Queering Polishness in Polish theatre since 2005", on which I graduated on October 6th, 2023 and which is currently being adapted into a monograph for international publication. This research project was supervised by prof. dr. Kris Van Heuckelom and prof. dr. Bart Philipsen and financed by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO).
As a freelance journalist I have written a whole series of articles, essays, interviews and reviews. Specializations: Polish culture, Polish politics, theatre and performance, literature.
From June 2020 until February 2021 I will be active at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences as part of my research project 'Resisting and reflecting. Polish theatre and politics of memory since 2005'. My supervisor during this stay is prof. dr. Joanna Krakowska. This stay has been financed by the Flemish Research Foundation (FWO).
At Ghent University I am currently working as the coordinator of the Massive Open Online Course 'Russia Between East and West', a new MOOC course that will launch in 2019 - 2020. As coordinator I oversee the project, translate case studies from Dutch to English, prepare working scripts, proofread, give feedback, do additional research, and other editorial functions. I also research and write case studies myself.
