  • Thesis at Opération 2CV Racing Team
    Aug 2010 - Jun 2011 · 11 mos

Optimization of a 2CV-gearbox for the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. Reason: Due to the fact that the Citroen 2CV of this racing team was already running on maximum engine power there had to be another way to improve lap time’s. Because the 24H of Spa-Francorchamps is the most important race in the 2CV-competition we tried to optimize the gearbox especially for this circuit. Solution: By installing a data logger we could log every event during the race. By analyzing these data and the vehicle parameters we were able to start creating a simulation scheme in SimDriveline (Matlab-Simulink). We used this scheme in our optimization program, with this program we calculated the most optimal gear ratio’s. This means an optimal balance between top speed and acceleration.
