Having started my career as a precision engineer working in the linear, tool-making and Motorsport sector, I made the decision to move into Education where I could pass on my knowledge and skills to others. My Educational career began within the FE sector where I completed my teaching qualifications, along with a range of other quality qualifications. In 2010 I moved into prison Education where I worked as Deputy Head for several years whilst completing IQA, OTTLS, Prince2, Active IQ and other related qualifications. My passion for prison Education grew and grew over time as I was able to see the difference this made to lives and peoples second chances. In late 2019 I was offered a position as Deputy Head Teacher at an SEMH school with children from 8-16 years old, this role was incredibly rewarding and also very different to my previous positions but allowed me to develop my skills and knowledge further. In 2022 I achieved my Level 7 Diploma in Leadership & Management with the CMI and obtained chartered manager status. 2023 saw me return to prison Education after the loss of my Daughter and a much needed change with new challenges and direction. I began my new role as Operations Manager for Hertfordshire, Essex & Suffolk of which is a role I have sought after for a very long time. This role suits my skill set perfectly and allows me to use all the skills and knowledge I have built over the years and put in to practice. I am the founder and trustee of Amber's Army, a charity established in 2023 in memory of our Daughter who passed away from cancer. The charity supports families who have a child with a terminal cancer diagnosis in helping to create memories. The charity is ran by a board of trustees where I function as chair and play an operational role, with my wife delivering support and day to day function. I am a great believer that much can be achieved through effective communication, establishing relationships and being honest & open with others.
