As joint-head of global core infrastructure services John’s responsibility covers the entire gamut of technology and operations within data centre technologies; from data-centre site support through systems management to technology risk management and cyber-security. The strategic key during the time in this role was transforming Citi technology to a “cloud first - mobile first” platform. This programme entailed an enormous shift in application platforming, significant implementation of automation, and demanding support of mobile end user technologies across: voice, video, messaging, application hosting and collaboration.
Responsible for end-user services across Citi covering 400,000 desktops, 300,000 users, Windows 7 migration, and virtualisation objectives. Key strategic projects managed during this role; 1 - Executed large-scale Windows 7 deployment – under 1% remained on legacy post completion of the project. 2 - Rapid Introduction of Cyber Defence and Data leakage products across the end user environment. 3 - Managed out-sourcing of helpdesk services to external vendor. Outsourcing and virtualisation as part of the migration brought forth additional complexity to the migration activity during this role.
