John Rumpler is Clean Water Director and Senior Attorney at Environment America. www.environmentamerica.org Current priorities include protecting our drinking water from lead and PFAS, keeping our beaches safe for swimming, and safeguarding our rivers, lakes and bays from polluters. Specialties: Policy expertise in clean water, green infrastructure, factory farms, fracking, runoff and sewage pollution, toxic chemicals. I work to protect our rivers, lakes, and streams and to ensure that our drinking water is safe and clean. I work with an amazing team in 31 states and Washington, DC - including advocates, organizers, researchers, litigators and more.
Represented community organizations in local environmental matters - including siting and permitting of waste facilities, zoning and neighborhood development, and public transportation.
Provided research and analysis in the midst of class actions and state attorneys' general actions against the tobacco industry. Drafted position papers on tobacco control policy. Successfully defended the organization against far-reaching subpoenas from Phillip Morris and Reynolds in state court. TCRC is now a project of the Public Health Advocacy Institute at Northeastern University.
