Responsible for directing the work and managing the staff in six regional offices. Assist the Bureau Director in planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing a comprehensive communications and counseling program: establishing program goals, objectives, policy and procedures, and staff development. Oversee Field Services Division budgeting, staffing, training, supervision, and evaluation of benefits counseling. Ensure that Regional Office staff is kept up-to-date and educated on member and employer related laws, regulations, policies, and procedures and that staff correctly communicate them to members and employers. Ensure that Regional Office issues are communicated to Central Office staff and are taken into consideration in agency tactical and strategic planning. Provide direct supervision and support to the Regional Office Administrators who supervise professional staff responsible for the communication of retirement benefits information. Travel to the Regional Office locations. Establish Bureau training program goals, objectives, and plans. Organize group and individual training/development activities to maintain consistent delivery of high quality customer service. Assess the effectiveness of training programs and project training needs. Coordinate and instructs technical training courses covering basic business processes. Write and/or edit informational materials and develop other media such as exhibits and training/educational workshops regarding pension benefits. Provide retirement information and instructional materials to a variety of audiences. Ensure Regional Office compliance with agency initiatives: Employee Safety and Security. Handle varying aspects of leasing regional office sites. Work in collaboration with other mangers to monitor and improve processes and ensure accurate, consistent information is provided to members, employers, legislative offices, professional organizations, and the public.
August 2011 played Mr. Rumbold in the Brit play "Are You Being Served" based on the 1970s BBC sitcom, featured the antics of the staff at Grace Brothers Department Store, London, and a holiday trip they took together for a week in Spain, at a "one-star hotel."
