Dr. John Oliffe is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Men’s Health Promotion at the School of Nursing, University of British Columbia. Founder and lead investigator of UBC's Men's Health Research program, his work focuses on masculinities as it inflences men's health behaviors and illness management, and its impact on partners, families and overall quality of life. His research provides key insights to guide clinicians and researchers advance men's health promotion practices. His studies address diverse topics including prostate cancer, depression, suicide, smoking, and other men's health issues. Moreover, his contributions include applications of qualitative methods and descriptive findings as interventions addressing gender and health issues. His findings are featured in over 200 academic conferences and workshops, and 300 peer-reviewed publications.
