My experience in the military ranges from operational deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq and Northern Ireland. I have served on several ships in a singleton role but also worked with the Royal Marines and Royal Gurkha Rifles. Land experience has fluctuated between Command Headquarters in operation advisory roles to the training environment of our military personnel. Throughout my career I have attained Leadership & Management qualifications and experience that have allowed me to work with a true understanding of the "team" organization and dynamic.
Advisor to the UAE Navy on medical doctrine, policy and training.
Operational Planning, Cross Government Department Liaison, Medical Advisor to Command. Medical Transformational Change.
Currently working as the Senior Medical Advisor to Commander British Forces for the Permanent Joint Overseas Base in Gibraltar. I am responsible for the operational capabilities of the force strength in both primary and secondary care. I also have the deployed operational responsibility for the deploying forces. Previous two roles in reverse order are as follows: Assistant Chief Instructor at 2 Med Bde in York. Two years was spent working with the army delivering the training packages for the Very High Readiness Vanguard Field Hospital. The role supported the Command intent to have a fully deployable Field Hospital to deploy as r,equired. At the beginning of my tenure there was also training delivered in support of the units to Afghanistan, however, this morphed into the activation of a unit to Sierra Leone in support of the Ebola Crisis. This training was bespoke and had never been delivered prior to the team and myself creating a training program and delivering a very unique package to both military and civilian personnel. External agenciies, such as, PHE, DfID had to be engaged with to assist with this training pipeline which enabled cross government department delivery. Counter Piracy Liaison Officer to the Seychelles and Mauritius. A very unique role in which I worked for the military in support of the EU mission. Responsible to the Command back in the UK for the operational and strategic delivery of information to the governments of both the Seychelles and Mauritius. Working from the British High Commission I liaised and worked closely with the Crown Prosecuting Lawyers, The Prison Governor, the British High Commissioner, the French Ambassador, Minister for Foreign Affairs and the EU Ambassador to Mauritius. Key to the success of this role was communication. In order to succeed in the identifying, apprehension, detention and prosecution of suspected pirates, I was the key interlocutor with all mentioned.
