About

Senior Technical Writer at Tesla with 8+ years of experience, working at the intersection of service engineering, documentation systems, and emerging AI workflows. I own service documentation and theory-of-operation content across battery hardware, firmware, and software, and I lead quality-focused audits that improve consistency and maintainability. I’m intentionally building toward developer-facing documentation and LLM-enabled workflows. In my current role, I designed and deployed an AI-powered Content Editor using internal inference APIs, prompt engineering, multi-step workflows, streaming, and tool use (LangChain + multiprocessing). I also build web documentation experiences, like Product Navigators using HTML/CSS/JavaScript to help technical users understand systems faster and reach the right docs with fewer clicks. I’ve produced large DITA XML documentation sets and managed ongoing release/change processes, and I’m now focused on applying that same rigor to AI-era documentation: clearer onboarding, better workflows, and documentation that ships like a product.

Experience

  • Tesla (On-site)
    • Senior Technical Writer
      Sep 2024 - Present · 1 yr 11 mos

I’m a Senior Technical Writer supporting Tesla Service Engineering, owning service documentation, theory of operation, and special projects across battery hardware, firmware, and software. I create clear, field-ready procedures and high-value reference content (theory + tool guides), and I’ve led audits that improved manual quality, consistency, and maintainability. I supported cross-functional campaigns and projects that improved service outcomes and drove $800M+ in measurable ROI through better documentation, enablement, and tooling. I also build practical developer-style tooling and documentation experiences. I designed and deployed an AI-powered Content Editor using an internal inference API, prompt engineering, multi-step workflows, streaming, and tool use, integrating LangChain + multiprocessing (4 workers) with internal inference APIs. Results: $1M+ ROI and a 75%+ reduction in documentation reviews. Additionally, I shipped 3 Product Navigators (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) for Commercial and Residential lines that pair concept visualizations and architecture diagrams with fast access to the right docs, driving $10M+ in combined ROI for the Service organization.

    • Technical Writer
      Jan 2023 - Sep 2024 · 1 yr 9 mos

I supported Tesla Energy Technical Content by drafting, writing, and revising global documentation for Industrial Storage programs. I partner directly with Field Service Technicians and Subject Matter Experts to turn real-world service needs into clear, standardized procedures and reference content. I authored five large-scale DITA XML documentation sets (500–2,000+ pages each) and collaborated with engineering teams to support service operations worldwide. We established metrics and feedback loops to measure documentation effectiveness, surface friction points, and reduce support burden at scale. Among these documents, I authored the Theory of Operation for our flagship product, helping break down silos and improve cross-team understanding. Additionally, I authored the Certified Service Provider program documentation, enabling global scale-out and supporting contracts valued in the billions. I published weekly global commercial service releases (2–5 product-impacting doc updates per week) and led change-request review meetings, triaging 10–20 Jira tickets weekly tied to platform and product updates.

I supported Spirit Airlines Technical Publications by preparing and revising Technical Publications and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals. I owned the structure, revision, and incorporation of change requests for Flight Operations Manuals, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and controlled release. I authored and maintained safety-critical Flight Operations Manuals (2,000–12,000 pages), managing quarterly revision cycles and documentation compliance. I also designed and implemented a content management system using Microsoft Office tools, such as Automate Flow, that reduced reliance on external vendors and saved tens of thousands of dollars annually. In addition, I authored hundreds of Pilot Operating Bulletins and Temporary Revisions in Adobe FrameMaker and PTC Arbortext, and contributed to team-wide peer reviews to maintain quality and consistency. During COVID-19, I volunteered on a task force that created protective posturing procedures to anticipate operational needs and support safe execution across the organization.
