As a federal prosecutor in the appellate division, my practice involved litigating and supervising criminal and civil appeals. I briefed and argued cases before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in a variety of areas, including public corruption, health care law, racketeering, child exploitation, major drug trafficking, and firearms possession.
As a federal prosecutor in the major crimes unit, I handled all aspects of criminal prosecution in hundreds of cases, including charging decisions, grand jury investigations, pretrial motion practice, plea negotiations, trial, and sentencing. I prosecuted a wide variety of offenses, including firearms trafficking and unlawful possession, bank robbery, counterfeiting, child exploitation, fraud and white collar offenses, assault, carjacking, drug trafficking, and violent crime.
I represented corporations, universities, governmental entities, and individuals in a variety of practice areas, focusing on white collar crime & internal investigations, antitrust, labor & employment, and insurance.
I prepared bench memoranda and draft opinions for Judge Gerald E. Rosen on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
I prepared bench memoranda and draft opinions for Judge Paul V. Niemeyer on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
