Experience

  • Lecturer at Forth Valley College
    Oct 2024 - Present · 1 yr 10 mos

Teaching various Chemical Engineering courses at Forth Valley College.

  • Research Associate at CMAC Future Manufacturing Research Hub
    Jul 2017 - Sep 2024 · 7 yrs 3 mos

As a Research Associate in the Centre for Continuous Manufacturing and Advanced Crystallisation (CMAC), my work involved developing continuous crystallisation processes within a multidisciplinary team. With a combination of experiments, digital tools, and process analytical technologies, I played a part in developing processes which integrate crystallisation and isolation to produce crystals of the desired shape, size and polymorphic form. I taught the Particle Technology class in the department of Chemical and Process Engineering which covered several areas of the pharmaceutical manufacturing process including crystallisation, wet granulation and filtration. For this class, I designed and delivered the lectures, tutorials and assessments. In addition to the Particle Technology class, I was one of the supervisors of the undergraduate group design projects where I mentored students, provided ongoing feedback and marked assessments.

  • Tutor & Lab Demonstrator at University of Strathclyde
    Sep 2014 - Jun 2017 · 2 yrs 10 mos

During my PhD, I was a tutor and lab demonstrator for the MSc programme in Advanced Pharmaceutical Manufacturing delivered by CMAC. I was also a tutor for the undergraduate process design class in the Chemical Engineering department. These roles required me to run group tutorials, mark assignments and demonstrate experiments.

  • Crystallisation Scientist (PhD Placement) at AstraZeneca
    Sep 2016 - Dec 2016 · 4 mos

Collaborated with process engineers and analytical chemists to develop a continuous crystallisation platform to be used for antisolvent and reactive processes. Placement gave me the opportunity to apply continuous crystallisation strategies to a pharmaceutically relevant compound and gain experience working in an industrial setting.

  • Intern at XstalBio Limited
    Jun 2012 - Aug 2012 · 3 mos

This project focused on optimising processes involving protein coated microcrystals (PCMCs).
