Dr. John Jiangnan Liu, joined Johnson & Johnson in 2005, he is the founder of J&J Asia Pacific Emerging Markets Innovation Center. Dr. Liu has been actively driving smoking cessation in China. He participated in the development of first Smoking Cessation Guideline in China. He initiated China first smoking cessation program in hospitals to help Chinese doctors quit smoking. Dr. Liu has taken a very active role contributing to the advancement of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He collaborated with State Drug Administration of China to establish GAP (Good Agriculture Practice) regulation for Chinese medicine industry. He participated in Chinese medicine globalization strategic planning and proposed Chinese medicine globalization road map. Dr. Liu is regarded as an innovation champion in China. He has been invited to give speeches at numerous innovation conferences, and to give lecture in universities. He was also invited to give speeches at MNCs and Chinese local companies on innovation. Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Dr. Liu has been with GlaxoSmithKline for eight years, where he was Director for the New Products R&D Center in Tianjin, China. Prior to his China stint, he worked at GSK US as Associate Director of Smoking Control Open Innovation. Dr. Liu also spent two years at Warner‐Lambert (now Pfizer) and two years at Forest Lab on new drug development. • Develop innovation pipeline strategy for Asia markets to support company’s long-term growth strategy. • Drive innovation pipeline optimization and realization. • Developed robust innovation short to long-term pipeline. This pipeline secures Nutricia’s leading position in Asia medical nutrition markets. • Lead patient centric “Design Thinking” approach to pipeline development. This approach has been adopted globally for Nutricia medical nutrition business unit. • Lead the validation of innovation pipeline via Advisory Board meeting including internal R&D, medical, regulatory, external KOLs, regulatory authorities to develop regulatory strategy to register the products. • Provided clinical strategy support to KOLs with the objective to establish treatment guideline for post hospital discharge nutritional support. • Build strong relationship with KOLs, co-authored oncology nutritional support guideline with top KOLs (the president of China CSPEN under China Medical Association). • Developed and launched immunonutrition tube feeding product for critical care nutritional treatment.
