Revitalization of an old salt mine that had long been in need of recapitalization by bringing in more modern practices in regard to production, maintenance, and safety Responsible for the operation of the underground portion of a 550,000 ton/year salt mine Performed the duties of Mine Engineer. Responsible for all mining engineering work in the underground mine, including producing and maintaining ventilation plans, escape & evacuation plans. Part 48 training, mine subsidence, explosive ordering and planning and execution of drilling and blasting operations, all MSHA records, and all BATFE records Worked with management team to decrease accidents and injuries, properly report to government regulatory agencies, decrease waste and unscheduled downtime, improve plant and mobile equipment maintenance practices, and work more effectively with the union workforce
Responsible for operation of a 670,000 tpy underground salt mine. Supervised 5/10 hourly employees. Planned, designed, and tracked short to medium range development programs. Work with employees to build a proactive safety program that enables the mine to achieve low cost and safe tons. While at Lyons I help to reduce cost per ton while increased production with reduced work force and helped lower number of MSHA citations. Worked with mining construction contractors on the building of a $7M barrier to prevent inflow of water into the mine
