I am a Professional Chartered Electrical Engineer with 20+ years of experience leading and delivering multidisciplinary projects. The projects generally ranged in value from $50M to $1Bn for Tier 1 and 2 Contractors. I have proven expertise in design management, stakeholder engagement and supporting site delivery teams in the successful delivery of complex projects. My project experience encompasses Mission Critical facilities, large, Health Care, large commercial projects, Defence, education and prisons.
Presently working on a range of projects including gold mines, water treatment plants and hyperscale data centres.
I am presently employed as the Engineering Manager and Lead Electrical Engineer for QES. My role encompasses Design Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Client Management and the technical delivery and design for a wide range of technically challenging multi-disciplinary projects. Notable achievements whilst at QES include leading the designs and providing technical and commercial engineering support to enable the successful delivery of Cross River Rail (Boggo, Road), Ripley Sub Acute Health Centre, Ripley Satellite Hospital, The Green Energy Manufacturing Test Facility in Bundaberg, and the Townsville Hospital Early Works and Electrical Temps. I also provide engineering support, alternate designs and commercial support to the estimating team for targeting large tenders, such as Townsville, Mackay and Bundaberg Hospitals, the PA Hospital Support Services Project, and 150 Elizabeth Street. Whilst at QES, I have overseen the implementation of BIM capability at the company, in partnership with the BIM Manager. This has led to the adoption of numerous BIM technologies being adopted including use of REVIT for design delivery, REVIZTO for site co-ordination and Trimble for site set out.
Electrical February 2019 - March 2023, Brisbane, Qld Australia Senior Electrical Specialist. My role was divided between Business Development, Project Management and Technical Delivery. I provided technical expertise and commercial guidance for project upgrades, technical investigations and management of inspection, testing and commissioning. These technically challenging projects included Main Switch Board upgrades at a live major Base Hospital, a Mission Critical Defence Data Centre (including Analysis of Reliability / Resilience / Availability / Maintainability), and resolution of damaging power quality issues at the Commonwealth Law Courts.
I Worked with Clients to identify requirements, program and cost constraints to align with the correct project scope, procurement strategies and staging. This integration with the Client project team enabled me to add value to the project delivery process, ensuring best value services were delivered at all project stages. Projects I contributed to at this time included FV Gurner Residential projects in Fortitude Valley, 138 Dornoch Terrace, and CCTV and Lighting Upgrades at QIC Robina Shopping Centre. In addition to contributing to the management and delivery of projects, I implemented systems to track opportunity targeting, bids and company QA policy
I provided technical expertise to Senior Business Leadership and Project Management Teams. This enabled strategic decisions to be made to deliver best value solutions to meet/exceed project requirements, at all project stages, from Initiation to Project Close. My role included identifying the commercial physical risks and opportunities to each project. This enabled the management teams to control Scope, Resource, Budget and Risk. I also provided support to ensure Client requirements were correctly interpreted by all project stakeholders, and these requirements were reflected in clear design documentation. This enabled the project teams to align with procurement and risk strategies outlined in the established Project Management Plans. I contributed to the successful delivery of mission critical facilities, commercial office buildings and retail centres. These projects included the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Palmerstone Hospital, Air Traffic Control Towers and the Delamere Bombing Range Facility, and RNA K1 and K5 Office Buildings.
