I am a diligent engineering professional with over 35 years experience working as an engineer and engineering manager in the pharmaceutical industry. I began work for Pfizer Ireland Pharmaceuticals in 1998 and since then have led a number of strategic capital projects on behalf of both local Pfizer sites and Pfizer Global Engineering. My core expertise is in leading, managing and successfully delivering large capital projects on behalf of Pfizer. My roles have varied on these projects from discipline lead to Project Manager. Project values have been in the range of $298million to $90 million. Through my career I have managed large multidiscipline design teams across many A/E Firms. I have developed vast proficiency and adept knowledge in both API, Biotechnology, Aseptic plants and operations. I have also had the opportunity of leading a team of professionals for the Pfizer “Technology and Innovation” initiative to deliver cost savings through the implementation of optimisation projects developed by the Team. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity of travelling extensively in my role with the Company to locations in both the US and Europe to deliver projects including OSP4 Ringaskiddy, Shanbally MAb’s SSF and the New Prevenar Vaccine Cell Facility in Puurs Belgium.
Electrical, Instrument and Automation Department Manager for PM Group Cork Office. I manage a group of over 100 Engineers from Senior Engineers to Graduates across multiple sectors with Projects in Ireland, UK and mainland Europe.
Project Manager for the conceptual design of an Oral Solid Dosage Tech Transfer project with a capital value of approximately $140 million dollars.
Projects Manager for Fillout of New Prevenar Vaccine Cell Facility in Puurs Belgium.
Engineering Manager for Design, new Vaccine Cell facility, Puurs, Belgium.
Managed a multidiscipline team to investigate all aspects of site costs from electricity, gas, water, waste etc and develop/ implement cutting edge projects to reduce site overhead. Won a highly coveted Pfizer Worldwide Innovation Award for EPA approval and engineering upgrades to allow a gas powered boiler burn waste solvent as a fuel.
Design Manager for the following disciplines in Fluor's Office in Greenville, South Carolina. Civil/Structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, fireprotection, insurance and Planning. I also managed a field engineering team to support construction and verification.
Managed the Capital Program for the $298MM OSP4 facility post construction.
