Under general direction, plans, organizes and directs the activities and daily operations of an assigned unit, function, or patrol shift within the Police Department. Performs special law enforcement and investigative tasks; conducts research, prepares staff reports, develops major event and tactical plans and, assists in developing operational objectives that support the long range goals and priorities of the Police Department. May serve as acting Police Chief as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
