My eighth book, The Devil's Trick: How Canada Fought the Vietnam War was published by Knopf Penguin Random House in April 2021. Through the stories of six fascinating Canadians, it looks at the many ways in which Canada was involved in and changed by that tragic war. Sir John's Echo: A Voice for a Stronger Canada, was published by Dundurn Press in April 2017. It challenges current thinking by arguing that Sir John had it right, dominant power in Canada needs to rest with the federal government in order for Canada to remain unified, to prosper, and for us to collectively react to crisis. My sixth book, Cold Fire: Kennedy's Northern Front was published in Canada and the United States in 2016. It challenges everything you thought you knew about Kennedy and his times by focussing on the many ways in which he affected Canada and that Canadian leaders fought back against all he wanted Canada to do.
