With over 20 years of international experience as a Civil and Structural Engineer, I specialize in the design and assessment of hydraulic structures, including navigation locks, weirs, storm surge barriers, quay walls, and jetties. My expertise also includes the design of bridges, concrete storage tanks, and residential and commercial buildings. I am experienced in the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and conceptual design, through detailed engineering and construction supervision, to demolition. My technical strengths include the design and analysis of (prestressed) reinforced concrete structures, steel frameworks, foundations, and soil retaining systems.
As (external) PhD Candidate I perform research into the structural reliability of existing navigation lock structures. This research is done in collaboration with Rijkswaterstaat and the Technical University of Delft - faculty of Civil Engineering and Geoscience, where I work within the departments of Engineering Structures and Hydraulic Structures.
As an advisor in the field of Hydraulic Structures I am involved in the research, planning, design, construction and rehabilitation phase of navigation locks, weirs and other structures of Rijkswaterstaat. I also advise project teams on topics related to ship collision risks and I coordinate research in this field.
Freelance lecturer in the field of Civil Engineering. Working for Hogeschool Windesheim and Betonvereniging.
As structural and lead engineer involved in the design, calculation, tender en reviews of several civil structures such a storm surge barriers, navigation locks, bridges, quay walls, onshore wind foundations, concrete storage tanks for liquid gasses and office and residential buildings.
