Postdoctoral fellow at Université de Montréal | Comparative federalism - Canada - EU - Global and comparative environmental & climate politics | he/him 🌈 | 👨🎓 🌐 🇨🇦 🇪🇺 🌿🚴 Website: www.johannesmullergomez.de I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Maison des affaires publiques et internationales, Université de Montréal. My work examines comparative federalism, with a particular focus on Canada, alongside research on environmental politics and comparative methodologies. Prior to my current position, I was affiliated with McGill University, LMU Munich, and the University of Cologne.
• Conduct research and publish on provincial involvement in international public policies, notably climate and trade. • Analyse the use of comparative methodologies in Canadian and federal studies through systematic literature review. • Contribute to academic and policy-oriented workshops, roundtables, and public outreach and networking events. • Provide editorial oversight for student-produced event outcome reports.
• Organised and taught a summer school on Canada’s and the EU’s roles in international climate politics.
• Monitored and reported on German EU policy coordination, EU policy implementation, and current developments in EU politics within the project “The German Administration and the European Union” (Federal Academy of Public Administration, BAköV). • Contributed to the handbook “Europa von A-Z” and the yearbook “Jahrbuch der Europäischen Integration” (eds. W. Weidenfeld and W. Wessels). • Delivered invited talks on EU climate governance and EU institutions.
• Conducted research and published on EU governance, European elections, and multilevel decision-making. • Authored a practical handbook on the role of public administration within the EU’s multilevel governance system for German federal officials. • Coordinated the Jean Monnet project SUMMIT on the European Council • Organised international conferences and public events. • Served as programme director for political science at the Turkish-German University (Istanbul). • Taught in the areas of multi-level governance and EU democracy.
