Marketing, membership and campaign project management

Great Yarmouth, England, United Kingdom

About

I am a personable and driven marketing and communications professional with a wealth of experience in B2B and B2C comms, events, creativity, facilities and project management. I have a dynamic approach that I tie into a “roll my sleeves up and pitch in” work ethic and a “Plan, Act, Review” project style. I'm an excellent proofer and creative editor of other people’s work. I love collaborating and bouncing ideas to achieve the most powerful message possible. I am a self-starter and regularly check in on my industry knowledge and find growth areas. I often work on several projects and campaigns at a time, engaging with stakeholders from a range of expertise and levels of management and working to tight deadlines. I produce high-quality copy for print, social, press releases, film, web and B2C advertising with a focus on SEO. My work in event management has also given me a head for budget responsibility, cost setting and stakeholder management. Though I am a ‘creative’ at heart, I am very data-driven. I test and enjoy pulling narratives from the data I can extrapolate. I work with my stakeholders to set SMART goals on all projects to track success and use each campaign to build a clearer audience profile. It is through these goals I feel able to stretch test and set targets based on last year’s results. This includes being aware of other campaigns and current affairs that may affect an audience’s engagement. As a writer, tone of voice is my spark. I have created brand documents that translate tone of voice into actionable descriptions and adapted my own style to a pre-existing house style. I’m a big believer that values should power a tone of voice. I am also aware that one can not survive on words alone and have a working knowledge of several design programmes and editing software. This includes the Adobe Creative Suite, Figma and Webflow/Wordpress. I have a friendly and personable demeanour with the keen eyes of an editor and the creativity of a playwright. I work well with others and on my own and take the time to understand my projects and build or adapt processes around them. I am incredibly proud of the relationships I can form with key stakeholders at all levels. Please feel free to get in touch should you require any further information or clarification. I hope I will be considered favourably for the role, and I look forward to hearing from you.

“We’re not just selling venues, we’re telling stories.” I wrote this line when I started this role and, although disgustingly poetic bordering on cliché, I have tried to incorporate the philosophy behind it into my approach. The role allows me to blend my passion for comms and content with my logistical prowess for events. This role sees me lead on copy & brand development within the B2B commercial events team at the University of Hertfordshire. This has included a full re-brand, new website copy, establishing tones and voices for our social channels, content and collateral development for both print and digital as well as generating new comms procedures within our smaller team and the wider University. I also lead on customer-experience look and feel within our venues and wider logistical challenges for running events within an academic institution. This all takes place whilst continuing to deliver client events to a high standard. Selling, developing & managing large events across several versatile sites. I have been acting in a similar role since 2018.

My responsibilities also include the purchasing of equipment, stationery, catering supplies and the hiring of temporary staff. Alongside organising maintenance and general upkeep of a busy building open to the public. As carried over from my last role where I created several new responsibilities; I also run the Fielder Centre's Twitter, Facebook and Google+ accounts, webpages within ConferenceHertfordshire and create in-house copy. This includes menus, posters and promotions that also get shared digitally. I have been working on a staff-newsletter to maximise communication between departments within the Fielder Centre.

The primary goal in my role is ensuring the smooth operational running of day-to-day events. This ranges from establishing that the client’s needs are met, liaising with clients via phone, email or meeting as well as pre-ordering equipment & conference paraphernalia. It also requires a basic knowledge of conferencing AV support and set-up. In order to develop I have created many additional facets of the role. This includes the managing and maintaining of The Fielder Centre’s social media accounts, rewriting the copy for the company's website and initiating a letter marketing campaign.
