As a board member, I was responsible for international sales of the market leader in print and digital publications for more than 120 airlines worldwide. DMD is a subsidiary of the publicly traded Connect Group (former Smith News). I managed the expansion of the video content business and the use of digital publications, especially in airport lounges and on-board airlines, in order to shape the company's transition from the classic provider of print media to digital offers.
In my position as Commercial Director at the expanding agency for inflight entertainment near Manchester, I was responsible for setting up a German office as well as for strategic decisions to grow the business worldwide. In a very short time, I was able to acquire new airline customers in Germany, Belgium, India and Japan, to expand the customer portfolio.
As managing director, I advanced the company's international orientation with the aim of expanding the customer base and reducing dependence on major German customer Lufthansa. I grew the client roaster to 18 airlines and to consolidated revenues of €20m in 2010, with 37 employees in Duisburg and Los Angeles. In 1999, I helped selling the company to Kinowelt Medien AG and in 2004 the takeover by Advanced Inflight Alliance AG in Munich. I became responsible for implementing several acquisitions abroad for the publicly traded holding company and thus created the first company that consolidated the IFE market to become the worldwide market leader in inflight entertainment.
