My name is Joel Cristales, and I am a passionate advocate for mental health, especially within underrepresented communities that face barriers to equitable resources and care. I am a graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology who is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at California State University, Fullerton, with the goal of becoming a dual-licensed Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). My commitment to this field is reinforced by my certifications as a Mental Health First Aider and Psychological First Aider. I'm dedicated to using my clinical knowledge and intervention skills to bridge the gap in mental health care, advocating for equitable access to resources and support.
Vocational Assessment: Assist in determining vocational rehabilitation potential and eligibility for services for individuals with disabilities. This includes analyzing and interpreting medical, psychological, and vocational information. Client Planning and Coordination: Counsel with, plan, arrange for, and coordinate the vocational rehabilitation of individuals with physical and mental disabilities for employment Documentation Management: Develop and maintain timely and necessary case documentation. Community and Employer Relations: Serve as a liaison and consultant to employers and community organizations to facilitate opportunities and address considerations related to hiring individuals with disabilities.
Graduate Student Assistant for the Office of Graduate Studies & Graduate Studies Center, providing administrative and support services. Assist students with campus resources and applications, create social media content, and coordinate student events. Manage general office duties and provide project support to staff.
Contribute to creating graduate writing communities, alumni mentoring programs, and professional training for faculty. Assist in integrating onboarding practices and professional development strategies to foster inclusion and success for Latinx students, aligning with the university’s status as a Hispanic-Serving Institution with Excelencia certification.
