Joseph J. Kennedy attended the University of Kentucky and Wright State University focusing on Business and Marketing. Upon graduation, he joined the Kennedy Company and joined those efforts into the retail and real estate businesses. He is currently President and Director of Operations of the Real Estate Development and Investment Firm, Kennedy Property Group. In 2013, he gained his Real Estate sales licensure and in 2024 achieved his real estate broker's license. He leads The Kennedy Group Real Estate Team and practices in the Miami Valley as a member of the Dayton Area Board of Realtors focusing on Commercial and Residential Sales and Leasing. That same year, following his love of community and real estate, he pursued the office of Greene County Recorder, was successful in his run, and started his term of office in January, 2025. He resides in Xenia, Ohio with his family. He has served in numerous capacities on local boards and organizations including the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce and the Xenia Rotary Club. Joe brings professional experience in lease negotiations, and commercial land/property development with the final goal of creating and preserving high quality communities and neighborhoods. Early experience in the grocery/retail industry has formed a work ethic, and knowledge of business in him that is second to none. Having personal experience of the challenges that today's businesses and business people face is an asset that has allowed him to serve in this capacity from the beginning of his career. Joe knows that Good Business reaches from the starts of our families to our future generations. This philosophy makes him proud to be where he is and excited for what is to come.
The County Recorder keeps and maintains accurate land records that are current, legible, and easily accessible. An important aspect of the Recorder’s work is to index each document so it may be readily located within the official confines of the office. Accurate indexing makes it possible for persons searching land records to find the documents necessary to establish a “chain of title” (history of ownership) and ensures that any debts or encumbrances against the property are evident.
