Joe Wong has more than 45 years of experience in water/wastewater treatment and reuse consulting for both municipal and industrial facilities. He specializes in advanced treatment technologies and is the primary author of more than 120 technical papers and articles and seven book/manual chapters in the environmental field. He led the development and design of the first major membrane-based (UF/RO) in-plant water reuse system in the worldwide petrochemical industry, which operated successfully for 15 years until the PTA plant was deserted (in Taiwan). He served as Desalination Committee Chair and Water Resources Division Chair, and Board Trustee for CA-NV AWWA. He was the committee chair and lead author for AWWA manual of practice M62 entitled "Membrane Applications for Water Reuse" which was published in 2018. He is a registered professional engineer in the states of California (ChE and CE), Florida (CE), and Washington (ChE), and is a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE). He served as the president of Chinese American Environmental Professionals Association (CAEPA) in 1998-99 and 2009-2010 and is presently mentoring young professionals in the environmental field.
