Joe Williams is Chief Executive Officer of the Green Hydrogen Organisation (GH2). GH2 is a Swiss non-profit foundation which seeks to dramatically accelerate the deployment of green hydrogen to reach sectors which cannot be fully and directly electrified with renewables including chemicals and fertilisers; iron and steel; shipping and aviation. GH2 brings together governments, industry and civil society to ensure green hydrogen addresses climate change, improves energy security, enables equitable energy access and contributes to economic growth. Joe is Vice Chair of the Global Renewables Alliance which represents the key renewable energy technologies essential for achieving net zero. Joe is an experienced advocate and coalition builder with over twenty years of experience promoting better policies and governance in the natural resource sector. He has led engagement with governments and companies in thirty countries on the adoption of transparency laws that have resulted in the disclosure of well over USD 1 trillion in tax and royalty payments globally. From 2013 to 2021, as Advocacy Manager at the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), Joe drove transformational advocacy to help shape global governance norms and country practices in the oil, gas and mining industries, including leading NRGI’s payment transparency and commodities trading transparency portfolios.
