Willand, England, United Kingdom
Ambitious graduate of Cardiff University, with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I have proficient experience working with children in a variety of capacities, including as a qualified teacher. Trainee Educational Psychologist (TEP) at the university of Exeter from September 2021.
• Taught children in all year groups across both primary phases. This included work in small, rural schools teaching whole key-stages at a time as well as larger schools with multiple classes in each year group. • Had to be highly adaptable with sound subject knowledge in order to meet curriculum objectives across all age ranges. • Resourceful covering sickness and last-minute bookings. • Adjusted to work within the frameworks of multiple school's behaviour policies.
• Worked in three year groups across three different sites within an Academy Trust in Wilshire (Year 2, Year 6 and Year 5/6). • Planned and delivered lessons covering all subjects within the primary curriculum, across both Key Stages. • Graduated with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). • Took part in a range of extra curricular activities including clubs, trips and residentials.
• Worked as part of the SEN team, attending monthly team meetings and assisting the SENCo with administrative jobs. • Collaborated with a Speech and Language Therapist to deliver twice-weekly play-based interventions for children in Reception and Year 1, from both schools in the academy trust. • Liaised with the school nurse to create and update an online medical needs database. • Delivered 1:1 and group Fresh Start phonics interventions for children in year 3, 4 and 5. • Had regular 1:1 contact with a child with autism. • Was responsible for implementing individual physiotherapy programmes. • Mentored children in year 5 and was the staff lead for a group of year 6 children in their Global Enterprise Challenge (GEC).
• University Open Days. These were attended by circa 10,000 prospective students and parents. I worked several of these events in several capacities. Roles included: lecture theatre attendant; manning the welcome desk as the first point of contact to the attendees; providing campus tours; and answering any queries about the university and my course. • University Inspiration Day. Ran three separate psychology workshops for three groups of 20-30 14-15 year old school pupils. I had to prepare and lead a PowerPoint presentation on the general topic of Psychology, and delegate small group activities to two other Psychology students. • STEM live day. An immersive space themed event aimed at promoting STEM subjects to 12-13 year old pupils from 6 schools surrounding or within the Cardiff area. I greeted busses of attendees, escorted them to the venue, liaised with teachers and steered children around their designated activities, ensuring the efficient running of the day. • Worked at three residential summer schools for groups of secondary school-aged care leavers, individuals with ASD and individuals from disadvantaged areas in order to raise aspirations of students so that they strive for university. I ran academic workshops, student life sessions and gave advice and guidance on all aspects of university life, as well as accompanying the students for all activities during their stay.
