Joe is a graduate bridge engineer at Stantec, where he has quickly immersed himself in the dynamic field of structural engineering. He graduated from Loughborough University in 2023 with a Masters in Civil Engineering, earning a solid 2:1. Over the past year with Stantec, Joe has had the privilege of contributing to the design and inspection of various structures, gaining hands-on experience with both concrete and steel. Joe has a strong background in computational structural modelling, having focused his research dissertation on the effects of blast loading on high-performance concrete columns using COMSOL Multiphysics. This project honed his skills in finite element analysis and deepened his understanding of advanced structural behaviour. Since joining Stantec, Joe has worked on several notable projects, including the design and structural check of a ~35m steel truss footbridge crossing the M3. His responsibilities included designing the substructure, complete with piled foundations, and the check of the superstructure using Finite Element Analysis according to Eurocodes and DMRB standards. Core Competencies: Mathematical understanding and application Proficient in Eurocodes and national highways standards Strong teamwork and organizational skills Joe is dedicated to becoming a chartered engineer with the ICE and continuously seeks CPD sessions to enhance his knowledge and skills. Outside of his professional life, Joe is an avid football and golf player, and he enjoys playing the guitar. These hobbies help him maintain a well-rounded and balanced lifestyle.
