In my role at the CAPRA accredited Metropolitan Park District of Tacoma, I oversee approximately 173 FTE positions (not including part-time) in diverse portfolio, including all park and facility maintenance operations. I also provide direct oversight of two of the District's three enterprise operations- Meadow Park Golf Course and the Point Defiance Marina. I focus on enhancing community engagement through all events programs like the Dune Peninsula Summer Concert Series, ensuring a balance between cost recovery and local needs. My responsibilities also include oversight of significant assets such as the Fort Nisqually Living History Museum and Tacoma Nature Center, contributing to the department's mission of enriching community life in Tacoma.
Responsibilities included the development, maintenance and updating of the agency's strategic plans and policies. Oversight of the District's Legislative Agenda and all intergovernmental operations at the local, state and federal level. As an example of my agency level role, I stewarded the agency through CAPRA reaccreditation in 2019.
