I’m a champion of others but hate selling myself, so I’ll keep it as short, sweet and genuine as I can. I’m a non-salesy, roll-up-your-sleeves kind of leader. I ‘fell’ into sales through a stint in retail in my early twenties, before quickly progressing to management. My approach to sales is rooted in authentic relationship-building with colleagues and clients and it’s through connection and grit that I eventually transitioned to Brand Lead. I lead with a combination of heart, strength and vulnerability – living and working by the motto, ‘have courage and be kind’. In my last role, I oversaw 14 direct and supported over 20 indirect team members. Each day I made it my mission to invest in each team member to ensure they felt supported, engaged and energised. I’m a big advocate for equity in business and love nothing more than mentoring women to achieve their personal and professional aspirations. I was the first woman elected as a board member of the Surf and Boardsports Industry Association (SBIA) in 2017 and was proud to bring a female voice and strength to the organisation for a few years. I remained with my last employer for eighteen years – in part because I’m an innately loyal person, but also because I genuinely loved the brand and team I worked with. I thrived on the diverse opportunities and roles that I was given and loved being the ‘glue of the brand’, marrying business functions and fostering a united, passionate and motivated team. I’m a brand girl at heart and firmly believe a genuine connection with a brand and business – be it as a leader, employee or customer – is the key to a happy, stable and long-term relationship.
