Los Angeles Metropolitan Area
While working for the Department of Mental Health in Los Angeles County, I served as a clinician at the Dorothy Kirby Center which is a juvenile detetniton center that is operated in conjunction with the Office of probation. During this time I provided crisis intervention and individual therapy as well as manualized and non-manualized group therapy for adolescents who were incarcerated. At this placement I was able to learn and become proficient in the utilization of enhanced supervision and Department of Mental Health paperwork.
During my time at the Lawndale Elementary School District, I worked as a Social Intern at Mark Twain Elementary School in the Student Service Department. Here I was able to learn and grow my skills in providing individual, and group therapy and assisting with crisis intervention when needed. Aside from providing individualized therapy techniques, I co-facilitated the implementation of the Second Step Program at Mark Twain, a social emotional curriculum taught in classrooms to reduce school bullying and violence.
