Recent Kinesiology graduate and aspiring physical therapist with a strong interest in injury prevention and rehabilitation. My senior comprehensive project focused on understanding how improper body mechanics and prolonged physical labor contribute to musculoskeletal injuries. I’m passionate about understanding how preventative tools and strategies can further support individuals in both athletic and working-class communities to limit their risk of work-related injuries.
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities through a fully immersive movement program. - Work one-on-one with clients of all ages, guiding them through highly individualized fitness programs that incorporate primitive movement training, rhythmic movement training, and sensory-informed practices. -Support clients in group fitness classes and community outings.
Observe the athletic trainer in athletic training facilities. Practice taping skills on non-injured individuals and classmates for a learning experience. Re-stock supplies, clean and sanitize areas, make ice bags, and perform inventories. Enforce athlete sign-in procedures, set up/break down sideline equipment. Travel with sports teams and act as "eyes and ears" for the athletic trainer. May practice first aid activities.
- Observed licensed physical therapists as they work with patients to gain insight into rehabilitation techniques and patient care. - Assisted with maintaining a clean and organized environment by sanitizing equipment and restocking linen & supplies.
