Sacramento, California, United States
Jim currently serves as a Principal Technologist at Jacobs (formerly CH2M), serving teams on four continents. As the CH2M Area Manager in Sacramento Jim led an unprecedented period of growth (from 135 to 250 staff in 6 years), while cutting turnover in half. This led to a solid #1 ranking on the local Business Journal List during those years. For Woodward-Clyde Consultants, Jim built a group of 30 in San Diego to serve the emerging local environmental market (in the 1980s), then went on to set up offices in downtown Los Angeles and Sacramento. Beginning in 2003, Jim served as the Vice Chair of the Reno-Tahoe Winter Games Coalition, and as Chair of its Strategic Planning Committee; by the end of his term, in 2012, the business model he had created and nurtured had led to a sustainable sports marketing platform for that entity. For his local community, in 2006 Jim organized 300 volunteers, and led the construction and landscaping efforts converting 10 acres of forgotten land into 4 new athletic fields at the local High School. From 2012-2019, Jim served as the President or Vice President of the Sacramento Stanford Association, promoting strong community connections for alumni to campus and among other local alumni. Since 2019 Jim has also taught Italian at the Murer House in Folsom. Jim is known for his ability to take on responsibility, to earn the trust of those he works with, and to embrace the opportunity to learn about new fields of work.
