Organised and led a two-day international online conference focused on global surgery and health equity, attracting 140 delegates from around the world. Key responsibilities included: - Designing the academic programme around core themes such as global surgical disparities, innovation, education, advocacy, and gender inequality - Coordinating a multidisciplinary speaker lineup, including leading global surgeons, researchers, and humanitarian professionals - Managing marketing, outreach, and ticketing through Instagram, email campaigns, and partnerships with student groups - Overseeing a team of volunteers and liaising with stakeholders across UCL and global health organisations - Creating and analysing pre- and post-conference surveys to evaluate educational impact Outcomes: - Featured 9 renowned speakers with experience across 5 continents, including leaders in advocacy, and humanitarian work - Designed and delivered a programme of talks, live Q&A sessions, and a speaker interviews - Led outreach, communications, and ticketing, raising £700 for our charity partner Gemini Untwined - Developed and analysed pre- and post-conference surveys; results showed statistically significant increases in knowledge and confidence - Strong participant engagement and interest in future global health advocacy, careers, and research
- Supported the organisation of the International Neurology and Neurosurgery Conference 2024, contributing to event logistics and strategy. - Led and executed the social media marketing campaign, increasing engagement and attendance from students across UCL and other universities, both in-person and online. - Played a key role in the Journey to the Encephalon lecture series, assisting with planning, promotion, and delivery of content focused on brain anatomy, pathology, and surgical techniques. - Helped widen access to neurosurgical education and foster interest in neuroscience careers among medical students.
- Carried out a research project on cachexia-associated molecules in both solid and haematological malignancies, under the supervision of Professor Teresa Marafioti. - Gained hands-on experience in immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining of tissue samples and tissue microarrays (TMAs). - Applied digital pathology tools such as QuPath for cell segmentation and image analysis, integrating histological methods with deep learning-based techniques. - Developed a strong foundation in cancer pathology and contributed to understanding molecular mechanisms underlying cancer-associated cachexia.
- Led the design and execution of Sangeet 2024, the society’s flagship music event and its biggest one to date, featuring diverse performances from students across UCL and other UK universities. The event celebrated South Asian arts, music, and culture while fostering inter-university collaboration and inclusion. - Choreographed two committee dance performances, enhancing team engagement and cultural expression at major society events. - Played a key role in organising Jashn, one of the largest Asian cultural balls in the UK, coordinating performances to create a celebration of South Asian identity and student community.
