‘The world moves in mysterious ways’. My passion to understand the workings of different societies and how the world is always changing drives me forward. As someone who enjoys meeting new people, understanding their perspectives and building strong relationships, I am excited to pursue my degree in Sociology, using my knowledge and passion to help impacted communities in the future. As a leader, I strongly believe in servant leadership and putting my team before myself. In doing so, it has let me better understand my team’s dynamics and personalities, therefore creating a productive yet exciting work environment during my terms serving in a leadership role. My strong communication skills allow me to work well and adapt to different teams, completing our deliverables on time. On top of my studies, I am actively involved in the arts as I enjoy creating artworks and expressing myself through different mediums such as music and written word! Research Assistant Under Prof Yasmin Y. Ortiga for Project "What Makes a “Good” Employer?: Dilemmas of Domestic Labor in the Global City" • Data cleaning and visualization on Excel • Recruited Interviewees, conducted interviews and produced interview notes and transcriptions
Casework • Mediated and resolved conflicts of over 100 cases of MDWs who experienced employment- and/or abuse-related issues with employers and employment agencies in Singapore. Research • Synthesized primary and secondary fieldwork data to write a blog post regarding sexual health awareness for MDWs • Edited a formal research paper advocating to ban human transportation on lorries in Singapore. • Interviewed 10 shelter residents on food issues they faced during their employment, coding raw data for analysis to identify gaps and strengthen advocacy efforts for improved employer regulations on meal provisions. • Cleaned and visualized results of survey data to inform policy recommendations and advocate for improved labour rights regarding MDW rest days. Advocacy • Planned and hosted a sexual education workshop for the MDWs in the community, overseeing events, publicity and logistics management
• Supervised the media accounts and analysed success media metrics of our campaigns, which outperformed past quarter results by 10-20%. • Spearheaded a marketing campaign which drove engagement and landings to our brand website, achieving a 20% reduction in projected expenses (CPM, CPC). • Conducted market research on media landscapes of 13 countries, including countries from APAC, using databases such as Euromonitor, Google Analytics, Statista, and Consumer Report to deliver a comprehensive overview of the global markets for internal use
• Oversaw the management of 40 volunteers and 13 EXCO members, setting the club direction through the annual work plan, event proposals, and timelines. • Engaged with and assisted 32 seniors through our two impactful projects to empower isolated seniors residing in the Geylang Bahru and Kebamgan-Chai Chee areas. • Spearheaded the planning and execution of our key events such as our annual fundraising and volunteer appreciation initiatives to improve volunteer morale in the club.
• Directed the Partnerships Student Team of 4 students in the planning and execution of the festival’s sponsorship and partnership strategies to acquire relevant partnerships, securing sponsorships such as Samsung, Microsoft and APOL Singapore, acquiring a total partnership value of approximately $760,000. • Corresponded with external stakeholders and internal departments in SMU to maintain good working relationships with prospecting partners.
