Jerry Shaheen was raised in construction. At age 14, he was a laborer for his father’s construction company in Lebanon. At age 19, Jerry began working on construction projects in the United States. Over the next decade, Jerry held team leadership positions on projects in: Montreal, Canada; Beirut, Lebanon; and Guayaquil, Ecuador. He speaks five languages. Jerry joined Gilbane Building Company in 2000 and rose quickly to the position of Project Executive. Within Gilbane, Jerry was the Regional Lean Champion and the Regional BIM Execution Champion. Jerry has been part of Gilbane’s Central Pennsylvania team since 2003. During his tenure he focused on higher education and complex projects. Pennsylvania State University Hetzel Union Building University Park Campus, University Park, PA Renovation and enhancement of 37,000 SF Hetzel Union Building, and upgrades main building facade. Bookstore and facilities will remain in operation during construction. The project challenge will be building the addition on top and adjacent to the existing buildings while keeping them in operation. The project will enclose an existing exterior courtyard creating and informal social space. The project is targeting LEED certification. Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law University Park Campus, State College, PA As part of Penn State's innovative two-campus Dickinson Law program, the University Park Campus program totaling 113,500 SF consists of ceremonial courtrooms, legislative hearing rooms, auditoriums, libraries featuring reading rooms, state-of-the-art classrooms and instructional spaces, commons and public spaces, and exterior gathering spaces. Cornell University Martha VanRensselear Hall, Ithaca, NY - Preconstruction Manager Multiple phased interior renovations including new MRI and exterior entrance and infrastructure improvements, and HVAC upgrades. This project is targeting LEED v3 Silver. Cornell University Warren Hall, Ithaca, NY - Preconstruction Manager Multi-phased project including extensive interior renovation of all floors, replacement of building systems, partitions and interior finishes. The building remained occupied during renovation. The renovated building included office space, classrooms and lecture halls. This project is targeting LEED v3 Silver.
Pennsylvania State University Rec Hall, Wrestling and Student Fitness Center, State College, PA Totaling 48,300 SF, the project includes 28,600 SF of renovation to Rec Hall and new construction of 19,700 SF for a new student fitness center. The renovated space encompasses wrestling practice facility, varsity athletics weight training center, equipment and medical treatment rooms, wrestling team locker room, and support facilities. The Rec Hall project received LEED-NC Gold Certification.
Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel Expansion, State College, PA 100,000 SF expansion to existing conference center / hotel complex adding 150 guest rooms including eight suites, 3,000 SF of new conference space, and a new lobby and covered front entrance. AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals US Business Center, Wilmington, DE New 714,000 SF complex consisting of four office buildings, a 2,100-car parking garage, and a 42,000 SF child care center built on an 86 acre site interconnected by both vehicular and pedestrian bridges.
Philadelphia International Airport Terminal F US Airways Commuter Terminal, Philadelphia, PA New 195,000 SF state-of-the-art regional commuter terminal with 38 gates, 24 prototype jet bridges, ground control tower, high-tech security system, concession areas and passenger club space. Access roads and utilities were relocated. Terminal F services both regional jets and turbo prop aircraft. Essex County Correctional Facility, Newark, NJ Completed construction of a 924,000 SF, 2,106-bed minimum / medium / maximum security facility consisting of four housing units, two one-bed units and two two-bed units, a gymnasium, courts, kitchen and dining areas, intake and booking, medical facility, administration, classrooms, cogeneration plant, an armory, and high-tech security system (CCTV, touch screens, arm band scanning, etc.).
Supervise and direct works for a company which specializes in slate roofing and historic restoration. Survey and diagnose existing structures, prepare quantity takeoffs for new roofs, estimate and bid. Major clients included: Wawa Inc. Headquarters, Villanova University, Accord Health Services, Ardmore Presbyterian Church, Lutheran Deaconess’ House, Perelman Jewish Day School.
