I am a global public equities investor. I adopt a business owner mindset to research companies' businesses, management and financials. Valuation is paramount to me and I invest when I believe that the risk-reward is favourable. I am risk-conscious and manage investment risks by watching out for and avoiding the following: weaker capital-intensive businesses, companies with significant financial risks (e.g. huge debt), fraudulent management, overpaying for the investment, and hasty portfolio entry. My process involves quantitative and qualitative research, documentation of my research for future reference, pre-mortem of what could go wrong beforehand, industry and comparable companies research, and follow-up check ups.
I conduct fundamental financial analysis on internet, media and telecom companies in the ASEAN region. My scope of work includes industry analysis, financial statements analysis, DCF modelling on Excel, investment thesis write-up, survey data analysis, and responding to asset managers’ queries regarding the companies and sectors under my coverage. I have experience advising Singapore and global fund managers.
As a Singapore-qualified lawyer, I advised on matters including income tax, goods and services tax, import tax, stamp duty, corporate/finance law, and trust law. My work includes advising on commercial transactions, business planning and structuring, rendering legal opinion, reviewing legal documents, representing clients in disputes resolution, and corresponding with the authorities on clients’ behalf. I have experience advising Singapore and multinational corporations and individuals from various industries and backgrounds.
