About

My long experience in leading different firms taught me how to grow a team sustainably, but also how to dismantle organisations in time of difficulty or necessity. The formation and growth of a team in all facets, and building sustainable relationships with both internal and external customers is one of my mean features. I have got an excellent birds' eye view and am capable of switching between subjects quickly. I enjoy indepth analysis and I excell in organisations that strive for quality and service. Of course, the commercial interests need to go hand in hand! My main strength is to reorganize a team by putting team members in their best positions by looking at competences, by creating a shift in overall output, and by letting go of the 10% slackers to boost overall morale. I spend a substantial part of my free time with volunteer work with a charity organization and an organization that cares for people in need. Besides that, I enjoy friendships at a locasl Lions club where we do fundraising for charities as well. Feel free to contact me: Jeroen van Dam

  • Leja Products B.V. (8 yrs 1 mo)
    • General Manager
      Jan 2009 - Mar 2014 · 5 yrs 3 mos

Leja Products B.V. of Nieuw-Vennep the Netherlands is a highly specialized, ISO-certified company that develops and produces disposable medical devices (class I) for semen analysis (quantitative and qualitative). Leja being a SME, this implies that my responsibilities were widespread: budgetplanning, sales & marketing, communication with and visiting International distributors and International trade shows, financial reporting, HR work (partly outsourced), and R&D etc. In daily practice this meant that I was the main contact for all our International distributors on sales and marketing affairs. That I lead the (external) R&D for all our projects. That I reported to the shareholders (first Dutch, after acquisition French) on a monthly basis, but also that I lead the management team. I strongly executed compentence management and delegated responsibilities to the management team in order for them to grow in their roles. What I most enjoyed working at Leja was the combination of working with scientists (KOLs from the WHO for example, or other experts in their niche field) and to always be on the lookout for commercial opportunities. This has led to a very solid growth of the Leja business and many co operations with companies and scientists and eventually the acquisition of the company by our largest customer in the veterinary field, a French company. My main role in all these collaborations was the ability to always keep the bigger picture in mind and make the translation from science to daily practice. Sometimes this is quite literal (translating scientific publications into brochures), sometimes more on an abstract level (new product ideas). It is important to be able to switch between daily practice (communication with customers and employees) and the more abstract (where does the company need to be in 5 years?). This is something I became very good at: fast switching between challenges at hand!
