I was responsible for reviewing, assigning and approving, every investigation involving child abuse that is assigned to the unit of 6 investigators. I ensured all multiple state laws and policies were followed, as well as, strict timeframes were met. I maintained a strong team work and positive environment, where everyone was held accountable. I supervised all forms of abuse and neglect, ranging from: domestic violence, substance abuse, physical abuse, neglect and mental health for the family and child. My main supervisory role was in a specialized investigative unit (Child Advocacy Center) that addressed: child sexual abuse, serious bodily injuries (skull fractures, internal injuries and shaken baby), school investigation, media cases and child fatalities. I supervised the CPS joint investigations with law enforcement, District Attorney's Office, Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, Tarrant County Medical Examiner and several non-profits organizations.
Prior to becoming an Investigative Supervisor, I was an Investigator that directly worked with clients and assessed homes and families for possible abuse and neglect towards children. In my 7 plus years of direct investigative experience with Child Protective Services I was also able to work in two specialized units, one which dealt solely with substance abuse (drug raids, drug exposed children and drug positive new borns) and one that specifically investigated child sexual abuse, serious bodily injuries (skull fractures, internal injuries and shaken baby), school investigation, media cases and child fatalities.
I was a direct care supervisor for the 24 hour children's shelter. I was responsible for setting up all of the children's schedules and activities from 3pm to 11pm. I handled the intake process of new children being placed at the shelter and overall supervision of all children and 3 other staff members.
