Jenny has worked within University sector for over 30 years at senior management level, both in the UK and Australia, characteristically as an ‘initiator’, ‘problem-solver’ and strategic entrepreneur. She now works as a consultant to universities, academic peak bodies and research teams to support major research management projects, ERA preparation and grant writing/submission. She was also Editor of the Australian Deans and Directors of Creative Arts online publication, NiTRO from 2015 to 2023. Her own research focused upon the higher education management system and its relationship with national governments and its academic ‘tribes and territories’, particularly upon the relationship between artistic researchers and the university and its influence on the future of Australian artistic endeavour During her career she has successfully developed and implemented new administrative management functions and structures, funded major initiatives and income streams, and nurtured multi-sector links and relationships between public, private and not for profit organisations and the university sector. This has resulted in numerous knowledge transfer and research collaboration initiatives and major multi-partner funding submissions and partnered commercial initiatives including Centres of Excellence and new multidisciplinary research institutes and centres. Her skills encompass the management and professional administrative experience across a range of marketing, public and stakeholder relationship management, legal and organisational practices required to achieve sustainable outcomes.

part time project manager for e-health project led by Associate Dean Research, Faculty of Health
Responsible for initiating and realising major competitive and commercial funding streams including project management and partnership liaison for submissions for ARC Centres of Excellence and Laureate schemes and CSIRO Flagship programs. This included development of a new multi faculty research institute signature project scheme and initiatives to improve the faculty’s indigenous engagement.
Senior adviser to Dean Research Arts, Education and Law. Position included establishing, administering and review of the academic group project and fellowship funding schemes, research and drafts for group strategic initiatives for HDR supervision and new centres, profiling material and internal and external briefings. It also included responsibility for the activities and programs of the Griffith Social and Behavioural Research College from January to December 2011.
Establishment (with Director Prof. Ross Homel) of 8 centre research institute focused on social justice and community wellbeing comprising 180 researchers from range of disciplines; Co-organiser of national Institute launch conference “The Good Life” (12 February 2009) Establishment of multi government agency major project “Community Indicators Queensland” (w/ project leader A/Prof Geoff Woolcock) (2009-10); Development, management and coordination of review and strategic planning processes including production of all major review documents, strategic plans and associated discussion /briefing documents; Development and coordination of annual program of skills and development workshops for early career researchers/HDR students and centre administrators; Drafting and submission of successful Queensland Great and Distinguished Alumni awards. Coordination and initiation of Griffith-Tony Fitzgerald Lecture and Scholarship Program including establishment and support of high profile steering committee, organisation of campaign launch, securing over $150,000 in start up donations, development and co-curating of accompanying social history and artwork exhibition to profile inaugural lecture, liaison to initiate state wide permanent collection in State Library of Queensland; Coordinator and co-curator of The Fitzgerald Collection – exhibition of artwork, media coverage and social history artefacts held at Queensland College of Art gallery 29 July – 9 August 2009 and organiser of high profile invitation only launch event.
