I started as an engineer: writing code, managing servers, dealing with security incidents at 2am. Over 20 years I moved into architecture, then management, and eventually C-level leadership. The most formative stretches were leading a 69-person organization as Director at eslite, and a CIO role at a health-industry startup. Rebuilding eslite.com was the formative experience. The legacy platform couldn't handle even modest traffic growth, so we architected a replacement on AWS while the old system was still running the business. Recruited 8 specialized teams from scratch, managed the migration cutover without breaking anything, and engineered the new platform to handle ~20x the throughput of the legacy system. The capacity bet paid off. Revenue scaled ~20x post-launch and kept growing through my time as Director. A few years ago I made a deliberate move to the vendor side. First at Palo Alto Networks, now at MongoDB as Senior Solutions Architect covering Taiwan and Hong Kong. The startup and executive background matters here, and not just because I can hold a conversation with a CIO. The deeper reason: I've spent years inside customer organizations, owning the budget, evaluating vendors, and deciding which projects got approved or paused. I know what those decisions look like from the inside: which stakeholders need to be aligned, where compliance friction lives, how budget really moves, and why technically sound projects still die at the political layer. That perspective shapes how I work with customers today. I'm not just architecting solutions. I'm helping customer teams navigate their own organizations to get production AI shipped. The technical work is the easy part. The hard part is reading the internal dynamics that decide whether a PoC ever becomes production. Most of my work today is on enterprise AI: RAG architecture, multi-agent workflows, Vector Search, especially in regulated industries where data privacy isn't optional. I designed a Privacy-Preserving RAG pattern combining MongoDB CSFLE with deterministic tokenization, currently under evaluation with a top-tier Taiwan medical center, and prototyping multi-agent RAG workflows using LangGraph with MongoDB Atlas as the checkpoint store. What I care about: production-grade systems, not demos. Buyer-side empathy, not feature checklists. And building engineering teams that outlast the leader who built them. I write and speak regularly on enterprise AI adoption, RAG in regulated industries, and engineering leadership in APAC. Happy to trade notes with practitioners working on similar problems.
Driving enterprise AI adoption across Taiwan and Hong Kong: designing production-grade RAG, Vector Search, and agentic systems for regulated industries in healthcare, retail, and gaming. - Designed a Privacy-Preserving RAG architecture combining MongoDB CSFLE with deterministic tokenization, currently under evaluation with a top-tier Taiwan medical center. - Prototyped multi-agent RAG workflows with LangGraph, using MongoDB Atlas as the checkpoint store and exploring hybrid local/cloud inference for cost optimization. - Built RAG evaluation tooling including a Voyage AI reranker benchmark and a BigQuery cost calculator for customer TCO comparisons. - Led competitive technical engagements across healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and travel verticals, from PoC delivery to CIO/CTO-level engagement. Brought in to rebuild eslite.com after the legacy platform could no longer handle even modest traffic growth. - Architected the new eslite.com on AWS, engineered for ~20x the throughput of the legacy system. Capacity target validated by real business growth, with revenue scaling ~20x post-launch. - Recruited and structured 8 specialized development teams from scratch (Backend, Frontend, DevSecOps, Data). - Managed migration cutover by running legacy and new platforms in parallel, with no major business disruption at switchover. - Introduced Agile and GitLab-based CI/CD workflows, the organization's first formal adoption. This project taught me what it takes to replace a system that real users and real revenue depend on.
