About

Jeffrey DeCoux is a technology founder with over 30 years of experience enhancing business productivity through automation. He's raised over $100 million for venture and business operations, built world-leading Boards of Directors, and funded dozens of patents, including for the foundational enterprise relationship management systems used today. He currently serves as the Founder and Chairman of the Autonomy Institute, a consortium of over 400 organizations from industry, government, and academia. The institute's core focus is accelerating the "Path to Commerce" for intelligent infrastructure and autonomous systems. This work aims to establish Intelligent Infrastructure Economic Zones and is foundational to Industry 4.0 solutions, which include connected autonomous vehicles (CAV), unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and advanced air mobility (AAM). The Autonomy Institute also established Urbanautics, the study and practice of designing and operating massively connected autonomous and intelligent systems for the public good. He is a board member, committee member, or Director of several organizations: Port of the Future, Intelligent Infrastructure Conference, Digital Twin Consortium, SAE Austin, Texas Task Force for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, Urban Air Mobility, and the Texas AAM Commerce. DeCoux also founded ATRIUS Industries, which leverages advancements in autonomous robotics to create massive change across industries. The company works with partners to develop "Highways and Byways" to support efficient mobility, automated city services, autonomous shuttles, air taxis, and inspection drones. His past successes include founding and leading Hangar Technologies, which developed autopilot software used by over 100,000 operators in 195 countries. He also led SMART Technologies, which was acquired in a billion-dollar deal, and founded SMARTNAP, a colocation provider that was acquired by Level 3 Communications. DeCoux's mission is to use technology to redefine work and "restore our humanity". His passion for innovation and hands-on technology, especially autonomous systems, drives his work in building and maintaining a better, more autonomous world.

Is your community, city, or state developing an Intelligent Infrastructure Economic Zone? If not, they are not preparing you for the economic future. Intelligent Infrastructure Economic Zones—the foundation for physical AI, autonomous ground systems, automated mobility districts, and the low-altitude economy. Connecting the World to Intelligence. Intelligent Infrastructure is the digital backbone of America’s next economy—without it, autonomy, resilience, and shared prosperity remain just ideas. It is just two words: "Intelligent Infrastructure". We are at the forefront of a historic shift in financing and deploying Intelligent Infrastructure. Through a pioneering approach that blends aspects of Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), we are establishing a new foundational economic model to unlock large pools of capital for intelligent infrastructure projects. This innovative model aims to transform how Intelligent Infrastructure is funded, developed, and deployed by leveraging Intelligent Infrastructure Economic Zones.

Accelerating the "Path to Commerce". The Autonomy Institute is a government, industry, academia, and public alliance to create the policies, industry, jobs, and community benefits of digital edge infrastructure and autonomous systems. Starting with the Intelligent and Autonomous Infrastructure that is the equivalent of the Eisenhower Interstate Highways. Autonomous Systems, the Mother of All AI Projects. Though Sematech didn’t’ need infrastructure, the Autonomy Institute does. There is a tsunami of technology coming to cities and it needs leadership to assure it meets community needs. That’s where the Public-Private Partnership (P3) comes in to deploy Public Infrastructure Network Nodes (PINN). The PINN will be as critical to a city as roads, power, telecommunications, and water infrastructure. Investment in a 21st-century Intelligent & Autonomous Infrastructure is among the highest priorities for stimulating economic and job growth. Creating Highways and Byways for the Digital and Autonomous World. Edge computing, 5G wireless, inspection drones, autonomous cars and trucks, air taxis, etc., all need to be part of, and to share, a common infrastructure. Local governments are struggling today with permitting disparate infrastructures that need to be a single open and intelligent infrastructure. The integration process is ready for a jump start. The country that does this well first will likely capture the preponderance of the economic benefit. The Public Infrastructure Network Nodes will support 5G wireless, Edge Computing, Radar, Sensors, Enhance GPS, and Intelligent Transportation Systems. The edge computing will convert real-time and stored data streams into information that can be used by the various apps. The apps may perform further proprietary data processing with the edge computer or analyze it on privately owned, or cloud computing platforms.
