About

Organizations usually bring me in when something feels off. Not because the strategy is missing or the technology isn’t working, but because somewhere between leadership’s intent and day-to-day execution, the organization has started working from different understandings of the same decision. Over the past twenty-five years I’ve had the opportunity to work across healthcare, government, global technology companies, and large-scale transformation programs. On the surface those environments couldn’t be more different, yet I kept running into the same pattern. The work rarely broke because people lacked capability or commitment. More often, it broke because the shared understanding behind important decisions slowly began to change. I’ve watched assumptions that were obvious in one meeting disappear by the next. I’ve seen trade-offs that were carefully considered at the executive table become open to interpretation as work moved through teams. By the time the symptoms became visible, everyone was working hard, but not always toward the same understanding of success. Over time, that pattern changed the questions I was asking. I became less interested in improving delivery alone and more interested in understanding why some decisions remain intact as organizations grow and conditions change, while others quietly unravel long before anyone notices. That question eventually led me to develop ASCEND. I didn’t set out to create another management framework or reporting tool. I wanted to build something that helps leaders preserve shared understanding by making assumptions visible, surfacing trade-offs early, and giving executives a clearer way to interpret what they’re seeing before small shifts become structural problems. Whether the conversation starts with strategy, product, leadership, or transformation, I usually find myself exploring the same underlying question. What allows shared understanding to survive pressure? If that’s a question your organization is wrestling with, I’d be happy to talk. jeffparks.ca

Experience

  • Founder at Ascend
    Jan 2026 - Present · 7 mos

Creator of Ascend, a structured working environment used to test whether decisions still hold as execution unfolds. Applied in leadership environments where direction must survive real operating conditions, especially as AI increases decision volume, speed, and consequence. Makes intent explicit, surfaces trade-offs early, and ensures decisions travel cleanly through complex organizations without being reshaped in motion. Preserves executive authorship while keeping decisions visible, traceable, and defensible as conditions change.

  • Senior Delivery Manager - Product Platforms at Government of Alberta
    Oct 2021 - Dec 2025 · 4 yrs 3 mos

Led enterprise platform modernization across legacy data systems and emerging AI capabilities in a high-accountability public environment. My role was to make direction explicit across a multi-year transformation spanning legacy data infrastructure and emerging AI capabilities so that delivery decisions remained coherent as complexity increased. Decision context & outcomes: Set and maintained enterprise-level strategic direction across a multi-year transformation spanning legacy data platforms and emerging AI capabilities • Worked with Directors and Executive Directors to resolve trade-offs between policy intent, delivery reality, and technical constraints • Introduced clarity frameworks that reduced decision latency, delivery thrash, and executive escalation • Established executive and digital councils to align leadership intent, platform strategy, and delivery sequencing • Reinforced accountability through outcome-focused demos and reviews with 100+ senior stakeholders This work reinforced the principle that strategy only becomes real when direction travels cleanly through an organization’s operating system.

  • Director of Product Design at Cornerstone OnDemand
    Dec 2018 - Jun 2020 · 1 yr 7 mos

Led enterprise platform alignment across learning and talent systems during global product consolidation and architectural transformation. The work focused on clarifying strategic direction across multiple product lines so engineering, design, and leadership decisions reinforced a coherent platform strategy rather than fragmenting delivery. Decision context & outcomes: • Partnered with Product and Engineering leadership to establish cross-platform coherence, roadmap clarity, and decision boundaries • Influenced enterprise product strategy across multiple business lines • Built and led a distributed global design organization (research, design, delivery) • Introduced DesignOps and governance to improve consistency, prioritization, and execution speed • Led design system strategy across multiple platforms to reduce duplication and accelerate delivery • Worked directly with enterprise clients (e.g., Daimler, Virgin Atlantic, McDonald’s, Harvard University) to ground strategy in operational reality • Advanced accessibility as a platform-level quality and risk control capability

  • Founder and Principal at Kina'ole Inc.
    Jan 2012 - Dec 2018 · 7 yrs

Advised executives resolving strategy-to-execution breakdowns across enterprise platforms, digital transformation, and operating models. The work centered on making direction explicit under pressure — surfacing hidden trade-offs, clarifying assumptions, and helping leadership teams translate strategic intent into decisions that delivery teams could actually execute. Decision context & outcomes: • Helped senior leaders clarify strategic direction under delivery pressure • Surfaced hidden assumptions and unresolved trade-offs early, before they became rework • Designed decision frameworks that aligned product, design, engineering, and operations • Reduced execution friction by making intent explicit without adding process or overhead • Worked across federal and provincial government, global technology firms, and multi-team enterprise environments supporting leadership teams navigating large-scale transformation.

  • Co-Founder at Follow The UX Leader
    Sep 2009 - Dec 2014 · 5 yrs 4 mos

Built a global learning company helping product and technology teams strengthen strategic decision-making under complexity. Workshops focused less on design techniques and more on how teams reason through ambiguity, surface trade-offs, and align around decisions that shape execution outcomes. The work emphasized: • Translating abstract concepts into practical decision frameworks • Helping leaders and teams reason through ambiguity • Strengthening shared understanding across disciplines and roles • Improving the quality of decisions that shape delivery outcomes Programs were delivered globally to cross-functional teams and business leaders across technology, finance, healthcare, retail, and professional services. This work laid the foundation for my later focus on executive alignment, strategic clarity, and making direction explicit in complex systems.
