Currently shadowing Dr. Chew in a general dentistry practice (30+ hours to date, 4–5 hours per week): Observing patient examinations, restorative procedures, and preventive care. Gaining insight into treatment planning, patient communication, and dental practice management. Building exposure to a broad range of general dentistry services and daily clinical workflow.
Shadowed Dr. Samji, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon (5+ hours to date) Observed consultations, surgical procedures, and patient care in a specialized surgical setting. Gained exposure to surgical planning, anesthesia considerations, and post-operative management. Developing a deeper understanding of the scope of oral & maxillofacial surgery and its integration with dentistry and medicine.
Shadowed Dr. Derek Hou, Orthodontist, for 8 hours: Observed patient consultations, orthodontic assessments, and treatment planning. Gained exposure to braces and Invisalign workflows, as well as clinic operations. Developed insight into patient communication, clinical decision-making, and the role of orthodontics in dental health.
Supported the head pharmacist with prescription processing, medication preparation, and customer coordination. Managed prescription records, handled phone inquiries, and assisted with day-to-day pharmacy operations. Maintained inventory through restocking, pricing, and system updates, and regularly assisted with opening and closing the store.
As a Kumon assistant, I mark and provide personalized instruction and guidance to students while monitoring their progress along the way.
