I’m a well-rounded engineer with over fifteen years’ experience working across a wide range of companies from start-ups to large financial institutions. Recently I’ve been primarily working in the infrastructure space at a rapidly growing start-up turned scale-up and have a history as a full stack engineer with a lot of involvement on the devops side of projects. Over the course of my career I’ve gained significant experience of working with large volume, highly concurrent systems from a infrastructure, front and back end point of view, have experience of leading teams and the opportunity to work across all stages of the software development lifecycle.
This title change was made to better represent the role I'd been performing at Sylvera since the start of 2023 in leading both the MLOps and DevOps teams. These teams were responsible for all of Sylvera's cloud and on prem infrastructure including deployment and monitoring systems, helping research teams use our infrastructure and turning research code into reliable, scalable software solutions. Some of my key responsibilities included: - Setting direction and helping the DevOps team manage our cloud infrastructure and best practice. - Consulting with development teams on changes to existing or addition of new infrastructure. - Helping the MLOps team help the research teams with software best practice, deploy tools to create robust inference and training pipelines and make efficient and reliable use of compute resources. - Working with a 3rd party for the management of our on prem large data storage and compute machines (~350TB and growing) - A founding and key member of the infosec and incident management committees.
Initially taking responsibility for Sylvera’s growing cloud infrastructure and high level app system design this role expanded to include ML on prem infrastructure, networking, security posture, and general company infosec. Key responsabilities included: • Responsible for all of Sylvera’s AWS infrastructure, monitoring systems and deployment pipelines. • Defined infrastructure, CI, deployment and monitoring best practice. • Acted on a consultancy basis for larger technical decisions, cloud infrastructure and build system changes. • Ownership of the on prem ML training hardware, networking and security. • Working with the head of QA and VP of Engineering, to setup and define Sylvera’s incident management process, infosec committee, and security practices.
Ownership and development of Sylvera’s APIs used by both Sylvera’s apps and directly by external clients. • Defining and delivering a robust, well documented, consistent, versioned and easy to use externally visible API. • Responsible for all of Sylvera’s apps AWS infrastructure, monitoring systems and deployment pipelines. • Setting team best practice, scalable agile practices and balancing tech debt with deliverables.

Development of medical questionnaires and supporting infrastructure to capture information and treat UK GP patients digitally. • Working closely with the GPs in the UK to build medical questionnaires. • A bridge between the main Swedish development team and the UK doctors and responsible for all UK medical content development. • Minor improvements to the product mobile apps and back end to support the questionnaire building.
Development of Node.js chat bots, REST apis and React/Redux front ends for a financial messaging client. • Development of new features across both the react and node projects. • Maintenance and additions to the cucumber integration test suite. • Helping to define the low level requirements and goals given very high level requirements from the client. • Deeply involved with setting up the cloud deployment strategy for the project using Kubernetes on AWS.
