The support I provide tends to incorporate heavy emphasis on political economy analysis and the ways that non-profits and foundations can tailor their work to real world complexity.
Led the pre-eminent organization focused on the advancement of transparency, participation and accountability at the World Bank and other multilateral development banks. Advocacy resulted in better environmental and social safeguards, better protection of marginalized groups, and greater opportunity for participation in the context of World Bank investments.
Served as global technical lead for World Vision’s transparency and accountability work in 1800 programs; supported field staff in the development of grassroots programs. Led grassroots-mobilization component of World Vision’s global health campaign strategy, contributing to 208 policy changes in 34 countries. Led acquisition team that boosted departmental revenue from $2M to $59M annually. Helped build long-term relationships with DFID, USAID, the World Bank and other key donors. Served as lead spokesperson at high level fora, including events convened by the World Bank, UN agencies, Harvard’s Kennedy School and a variety of governments and other institutions. Supervised research partnerships with Oxford University, Georgetown University, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University and DFID.
- Led World Vision’s advocacy work in the Middle East. - Played key role in boosting departmental revenue from $200K to $2M over 3 years. - Served as media spokesperson during crises in Gaza, Afghanistan, and Pakistan for outlets such as CNN, ABC, The LA Times, AP, Reuters, CBC, SkyNews and others. - Managed key relationships with local partners and influenced US humanitarian policy. - Brokered new faith-based partnerships for peace and justice through World Vision’s Jerusalem/West Bank/Gaza advocacy office.
Drafted opinions and orders of the Court in Spanish and English. Participated in deliberations of the Court. Prepared comparative jurisprudential analysis of both national and international courts. Researched human rights issues throughout the Americas. Primary working language: Spanish.
