As a retired wedding/party planner and now a funeral arranger I think 'outside the box' as it were when considering the importance of saying good-bye. Following the pandemic I have become deeply aware that many families have had little opportunity to experience the healing power of a good funeral. My current mission is to support people in creating beautiful occasions that celebrate the lives of lost loves. Last Wishes - Live your Legacy offers a training programme for open-minded pioneers, willing to take a fresh look at end of life matters. We are are currently a small and dedicated team, building a supportive community asset. To find out more, why not join the founders in the Last Wishes fortnightly Tea Room via Zoom, 11.00-12.00 GMT? www.lastwishes.world

As a One Spirit Interfaith Minister I work with people of any faith or none to create ceremonies that mark the milestones of life, especially funerals. My mission is to soften the taboo surounding death. I plan funerals pre-need, either face to face or on-line. Dramatic or otherwise, I feel people need to be aware of the many choices available, being especially mindful of the environmental issues surrounding that final milestone.
Working as a funeral arranger at ARKA in Brighton I work with families helping them to arrange unique funerals that reflect the interests, passions and philosophies of the deceased. At the heart of each arrangement is an ecological awareness.
We take responsibility for our lives and celebrate the milestones with in it, why not include our departures? Arranging one's own funeral pre-need is a liberating act and allows us to get on with the business of living. Maybe you favour the idea of a quietly gentle ceremony taking place at home or in your garden, surrounded by family, friends and pets, followed by burial in a woodland burial ground? Or a flamboyant send off in the local, with loved ones honouring your memory with a pint and a salsa band to accompany you to the crem. At a later date your ashes could be fired dramaticly into the yonder in a rocket. If you follow no particular religion, consider having an Interfaith minister or independant celebrant to create a personal and meaningful farewell. Wearing my 'party planners hat' such occasions can be arranged either on line or face to face.
