Helped create and now maintain the platform for our locomotive control software (Embedded C++). Work with cross functional teams to design and implement features for external locomotive customers as well as internal customers (Engine Controls team, Diagnostics, etc). Have been go-to engineer for resolving emergency issues blocking customer releases and have helped improve on time delivery by more than 20%. This includes defect resolution through root cause investigation, managing lab resources and test setups, implementation, and consultation on validation methods and specification updates.
Lead the technical effort in maintaining our consolidated baseline (Common Trunk) from which we branch and release to many customers. Held a daily scrum in an Agile environment and managed the workload of more than 10 software engineers. This meant ensuring changes were implemented and validated with correct dependencies within the baseline in time for bi-weekly customer release branches.
Designed and implemented controls functionality for customers. This included new screens, alarms, and general controls update. Better defined startup dependencies to re-order and optimize task launching. This reduced startup time for the displays by more than half, saving Locomotive operators several hours over the course of a month. The changes made included a way to track how startup time changes over different releases to ensure the solution can stand the test of time.
